85 Broads is partnering with The Foundation for Social Change. 85 Broads member Louise Guido is the CEO of The Foundation for Social Change - designed to help direct the resources of the private enterprise sector to solve social problems.

The Foundation for Social Change is dedicated to educating businesses that social innovation – social action programs – can benefit both their bottom line and address critical social issues. Their vision:
- To stimulate economic development through innovation, job creation, and social responsibility.

Two upcoming events which should be of interest to 85 Broads members:

1.) Leadership for Social Change Course at NYU Stern School of Business – Oct 11-15 or Oct 25-26

A professional development course for executives involved in advancing the corporate responsibility initiatives of their organizations is being produced in conjunction with United Nations and NYU Stern School of Business and is available either for a 5-day course October 11-15; or a 2-day course October 25-26.

This course deals with the measurable return on business profitability from corporate responsibility and sustainability initiatives, market demand and social impact investment.

Leadership for Social Change Course helps organizations:
-Learn how to open new markets using socially responsible initiatives
-Develop innovative technologies that address social issues
-Build relationships through public/private partnerships to achieve impact and value
-Consult with industry experts about the ‘how to’ of implementing effective programs
-Partner with the United Nations to meet the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by 2015

Course participants receive a Certificate of Social Change Leadership; and complimentary registration to the United Nations Global Conference for Social Change to be held November 18-19 at the United Nations in New York.

2.) UN Global Conference for Social Change – November 18-19

The Foundation for Social Change (FSC) and the United Nations Office for Partnerships (UNOP) announce today the 2010 Leaders of Change to be honored at the Global Conference for Social Change: Turning Social Responsibility Into Social Action on November 18-19 in New York.

The Global Conference for Social Change will recognize visionary, inspirational leaders, who through their actions exemplify how leadership, creativity and innovation can engage in initiatives that solve social problems.

The Conference includes live presentations by thought leaders, group workshops, an awards presentation and concert; plus webcast to a global audience. Come hear how the world’s most influential organizations and individuals have driven impact to both the bottom line and social problems.
