The Network At Pooh Corner

August 12 2011

I blog for the Levo League on networking - really, anything I'm thinking about when it comes to networking, connecting, following up, making introductions.....

For my latest blog, I drew inspiration from Winnie the Pooh.

9 whimsical lesson, such as:

Networking Lesson #1:  Let’s start with the bad news about networking – it’s about meeting other, real people face-to-face. Sorry, you can’t stay behind your computer screen, in your cubicle or behind your closed-office door.

Which was inspired by Pooh's  line  - “You can’t stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes.

And

Networking Lesson #6:  You already know that networking is all about the other person – their schedule, interests, passions, hobbies, work demands, family….If you want to network successfully, figure out what the other person is really really interested in and then find ways to give them a helping hand.

Drawn from Pooh's observation that  -“A little Consideration, a Little Thought for Others, makes all the Difference.”
