It seems writing an actual thank you note has become a lost art.  Yet in today’s mail arrived one of the most stunning and thoughtful thank you cards I have ever received.  What momentous occasion you may ask prompted such a thought provoking expression of gratitude?  A quiet evening spent with two new friends discussing family quirks, new business struggles, home decorating and of course lots of reality television. 

The evening itself was wonderful and I have been elated ever since knowing I now have a friendship blossoming with two new amazing individuals. ( a somewhat rare occurrence as the years have progressed)

Yet, here I find myself so very inspired by their note and it occurs to me that there is a huge relevancy to the growth of my business.  This personal connection is what we should be striving for everyday with clients, prospects, vendors and business acquaintances.

What makes a perfect Thank You:

Connection:  This particular card was not only beautiful but they had incorporated a photo of my daughter taken that evening that I adore.  Granted, Brian and Dennis are two fabulously creative individuals (check out www.popgoesthehome.com )  but we can all find that connection in our own personal way. 

Quality:  If you are going to write a Thank You take the time to do it properly.  Quality card stock and a well crafted message are essential.  All you need are a few short lines if they are the right ones.

Try not to take the easy route: Though it might be tempting to send a quick email, these can can easily be deleted or forgotten.  True expressions of gratitude should be conveyed the old fashion way, with pen and paper.  In the electronic age we live in this small act of a hand written message is something people feel is incredibly special. 

So as we enter this holiday season, remember to take a little time to show people how special they are and I think you will find your relationships will both deepen and improve.  We all want to do business with people we like and respect.  A little Thank you may be what sets you apart from the rest.
