Have you ever had a good idea and needed the right people to make it happen?

For the past 12 years, the organization I founded, Community-Word Project, has worked with at risk public school youth helping them capture their communities and their individual stories through poetry writing, performance and mural making.

To culminate each project we do, every student contributes a poem to a printed and bound anthology to share with their families and friends.

The anthologies are professionally printed and beautifully designed and all that is missing from this celebratory process are copy editors who will sit with each student and help him/her prepare their poem for print (for our students this is their first venture into being published).

Wouldn't it be fun to find a corporate partner that could send a group of 10-20 volunteers into one of our hardest hit schools to work one on one with our talented young writers. I imagine it as a four hour anthology prepping project to take place in the third week of May.

We model collaboration and team building in everything we do so our young people have the skills to make change happen in their lives.
