Mike Bloomberg wants to run for a third term as Mayor of New York City. Debate is raging as to whether he should be allowed to. I say GO FOR IT. Here's why. It's all about "return on investment." I think the people of NYC have gotten a helluva return on Mike's two terms as Mayor.
Most importantly, Mike is smart enough to run the city -- in good times and in bad. After being fired from Salomon Brothers, he built his own company. In fact he built a great company.
Mike Bloomberg is extraordinarily philanthropic. He has contributed in a myriad of ways to the city he lives in, and loves. An "act of charity?" Hardly. Mike is a shrewd investor. He has been "long" NYC for decades.
In my humble opinion, NYC voters should have the opportunity to re-elect Mike Bloomberg as their mayor. He has been a brilliant steward of city government for over 7 years. The people of NYC can always elect someone else if they disagree.
But take a moment and read Mike's speech which he gave in London last week. His emotional and intellectual depth speak for themselves. Like I said, GO FOR IT.
