I first met Kelly Hoey last summer when she was working for White & Case in NYC. Kelly is a lawyer by trade but her passion is entrepreneurship with a social media twist. Before Kelly joined 85 Broads and subsequently became the President of the LLC, the term "social media" meant nada to me.

At that point, I had a half-written profile page on LinkedIn and I thought Twitter was stupid. I didn't want to "friend" my kids nor did I want to be "in a relationship" with someone I'd known and should have forgotten from college.

Kelly saved 85 Broads from the network equivalent of social media extinction. No one in our office ever talked about content sharing or microblogging or tweeting or hootsuiteing or cross-linking. People kept asking me to accept their invitation to join LinkedIn but stupidly, I saw LinkedIn as a direct competitor of 85 Broads!

And then this awesome woman joined our team. Before I knew it, I'd read Gary Vee's book cover to cover and I was crushing it! And fabulous women from all over the world started joining 85 Broads in droves because they'd heard about us through LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and really cool blogs written by our members.

Kelly not only kept us from becoming a network dinosaur, she also introduced us to the fabulous legal eagles in her world.

Some of the coolest women from Goodwin Procter have joined 85 Broads because they want to mine the network to forge new relationships with other super smart women globally. This is beyond exciting as the professional law/biz career crossruff is going to be huge.

After two of the toughest years in our 13 year history, 2010 is looking a heck of a lot brighter thanks to Kelly Hoey.

She is, and always will be, a ROCKSTAR.
