Widely respected as a leading entrepreneur, Janet Hanson is recognized as a unique voice and champion for women globally. As CEO and Founder of 85 Broads, Janet has built a global network community of 25,000 trailblazing women who want to leverage their best personal and professional relationships to create greater success for themselves and each other.

Launched in 1997, the “founding members” of 85 Broads were women who worked for Goldman Sachs at 85 Broad Street, the firm’s NYC headquarters. Today, students and alumnae of the world’s leading colleges, universities, and graduate schools are invited to join 85 Broads from every corner of the globe and from every possible career path. Together, these women make up the most powerful, intellectually savvy network of women in the world. As a multi-cultural, multi-generational network, 85 Broads members live, work, and study in 82 different countries and work for over 3,500 for-profit and not-for-profit companies worldwide.

After graduating from Wheaton College and Columbia Business School, Janet joined Goldman Sachs in 1977. In 1986, she became the first woman in the firm’s history to be promoted to sales management. Following her 14-year career at Goldman Sachs, Janet founded Milestone Capital Management, a $2 billion institutional money management company. From 2004 to 2007, Janet was a Managing Director and Senior Adviser to the President of Lehman Brothers.

Janet is a former member of the Board of Trustees of Wheaton College and a current member of the Board of The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation. She is an Associate Fellow of Pierson College at Yale University and serves on the Advisory Board of The Center for Work-Life Policy’s Hidden Brain Drain Task Force. She has received a number of awards and honors, including an honorary degree from Middlebury College in 2007.

Janet’s greatest passions are her two spectacular children. Meredith is a junior at Wheaton College and Christopher is a freshman at Dartmouth College.

Krista Sande-Kerback is the Head of Strategy at 85 Broads. She directs the daily operations of 85 Broads, supervising a small core team and dozens of volunteers. Responsibilities include: advising 85 Broads chapters and clubs around the world; coordinating professional networking events, conferences, and Jam Sessions; developing corporate and academic partnerships; managing 85 Broads website development projects in line with strategic business objectives; developing and executing pilot of the Market Clout internship program; and promoting the 85 Broads mission through social media tools and strategic networking.

Krista has been a passionate advocate of women’s rights and career development since her childhood, even growing up in a household where her parents both hyphenated their last names and revised fairy tales to read “they lived happily ever after…and he helped her through graduate school.” She attended Dartmouth College, where she studied geography and public policy and also served as president of Panhellenic Council, the governing body for the sorority system, and co-chair of Women in Leadership, in which she developed programming events with women professors and global leaders. In 2005, she received a Fulbright Grant to teach English in a Muslim migrant community and research multicultural education and Turkish immigration at the University of Hamburg in Germany. Prior to joining the 85 Broads team, she served as a management consultant at Opera Solutions for three years.

Megan MacGregor is an Associate at 85 Broads focusing on networking strategies, public relations and social media. Megan graduated from Dartmouth College in 2010 where she double majored in Art History and Studio Art and minored in Psychology. She was a member of the Varsity Women’s Volleyball team at Dartmouth, serving as captain of the team her last two years and also earning All-Ivy honors. In 2009, she studied abroad in Florence, Italy at the Lorenzo de’ Medici school and backpacked throughout Europe. Last summer Megan interned at the San Diego public relations and event planning company, McFarlane Promotions. Originally from California, Megan enjoys traveling, photography and spending time with her family and friends.

Lindsay Walls is an Associate at 85 Broads. As an associate, she manages the network’s presence in social media, including Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Lindsay is an advocate for cross-cultural exchange, travel, and the promotion of equality and equal opportunity. A graduate of Brown University, 2010, she concentrated in International Relations with a focus on Chinese culture and society and Mandarin Chinese. While at Brown University, Lindsay was a member of the Varsity Women’s Basketball and Volleyball teams, earning Ivy League Rookie of the Year for basketball her freshman year. Lindsay aspires to earn a joint MBA/JD degree and to work in an international environment, promoting female professional empowerment and increased global awareness.

Laura Sobkowski is an intern at 85 Broads working on corporate strategy, networking and marketing tactics as well as day-to-day tasks. She is a rising senior at Babson College, expected to graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management with a double concentration in Marketing and Global Management. Before 85 Broads, she interned at a large marketing firm, Vertrue, in Norwalk, CT as well as Leeb Capital Management, a Wealth Management firm in New York City. One of Laura’s most valuable experiences was living and volunteering in Ghana, Africa, teaching underprivileged high school students the basic skills of entrepreneurship as a means of survival. At Babson, Laura is a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority where she serves as Vice President and the Babson Dance Ensemble where she serves as a choreographer, dancer, and Executive Board member. In her free time, Laura loves to draw, paint, be outdoors, and spend time with her family and friends.
